Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. What seems to be persecution on the one hand turns out to be a blessing on the other. The reading from the epistle to the Corinthians tries to explain this apparent paradox of life saying that when we participate in the sufferings of Christ, we receive the spiritual comfort from Christ. As a consequence, when we are comforted by Our Lord, concurrently there is an obligation to comfort others who are in need of it. Then, when we comfort others we might have to endure our own share of suffering.

This cycle of suffering, spiritual comfort and the consequent responsibility to comfort others is repetitive and spiral. Every time we willingly go through this cycle, humanity as a whole progresses.

Lord, we pray, comfort us at times when we suffer in the process of reaching out to those in need.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
