In the second letter to the Corinthians, we read that God deigned to reconcile the world to Himself through His only Son, Jesus, and he wants us to participate in this salvific mission, so much so that we become ambassadors of reconciliation between God and human beings. At first sight, that seems to be an enormous task for us mere humans. On the other hand, today's Gospel reading shows us the way to achieve this enormous task.

All that the father of the Prodigal Son does is to love unceasingly. This love is not just a mere feeling but much more a decision - a decision to give until it hurts, a decision to love in spite of his son's unworthiness. This kind of love needs strong will power and a sense of commitment. The more one has experienced the unconditional salvific love of Christ, the easier it is to love others and thus become ambassadors of Christ's salvation.

Lord, we pray for the grace to know You more clearly, love You more dearly and thus to follow You more closely.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That respect for nature may grow with the awareness that all creation is God's work entrusted to human responsibility.
