Jesus faced the crowds, who wanted him to give a sign. Looking for signs may be one of the biggest problems for people of our time. Some people may ask: Why should I believe in God if I don't see any sign of his existence? We should look closer into Jesus' response to the crowds in order to understand better the idea of signs and see clearly why he refused to follow the expectations of the people.

Jesus criticized an approach to faith which is based on signs. The main reason he gave is that people did not appreciate and refuse to accept the signs which were already given. He quoted the example of Jonah, who gave signs to the people of Nineveh and was himself also a sign. Jesus offered himself as a greater sign than Jonah.

Jesus is the foundation of our faith. If we look for signs in our spiritual life, we should turn to him and understand more deeply his life, mission and works. Our faith must be based on Jesus Christ, not on signs, which will never fully satisfy our deepest desires and longings. Jesus Christ is the sign, which was given to us in order to help us to believe.

Father, purify our faith so that in all things we look to Jesus.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That those feeling so crushed by life that they wish to end it may sense the nearness of God's love.
