Yesterday, we celebrated the feast of St. Monica. The story of St Monica and her son St. Augustine is a wonderful example of how a mother can communicate the grace of faith to her child and eventually, through her tears and prayers bring her child to a full conversion to Jesus. Reflecting on his infancy in his Confessions, Augustine says: "From my most tender years, I had in a manner sucked with my mother's milk the name of my Saviour, Your Son. I kept it in the recesses of my heart, and all that presented itself to me that lacked that divine name, although it might be elegant, well written, even replete with truth could not altogether carry me away": [Confessions 1:4] Augustine went through many crises in his life, intellectual, religious and moral and all the time had a great restlessness of heart seeking the truth that would set him free. That restlessness was God's way of drawing him to the truth: "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you."

Lord Jesus, bless all Catholic parents that they may communicate their faith joyfully and serenely to their children.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
