"Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow." In today's Gospel, Jesus tells us about the need for discernment and depth in all that we do. The seeds that sprang up quickly may be likened to the many decisions that we make without much discernment and dialogue with God and the people around us. Sometimes we do so for our own interests and we gain fame or fortune. On other occasions, we do harm to other people in order to achieve our goals. We are reminded that we need to be disciples who build our lives on strong grounds of faith, commitment and love for neighbour. Unless we do so, our very lives will be hindered because the fruit of all our efforts will be vainglory. Because of our many weaknesses and limitations in doing things, we tend to act hopelessly faster in order to avoid being in touch with ourselves. Jeremiah was blessed with the grace of recognizing his unworthiness and incapacity to carry out God's mission of proclaiming his news and, as a result, God performed miracles. God gave him powers even beyond what Jeremiah could ever have imagined.

Almighty Father, grant us, we pray, the grace of discernment and of love for our neighbour.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
