Normally, we tend to feel and think that our security comes from being in control - everything must happen in accordance with my will, my plan, my way of thinking: That makes me feel safe, relaxed, confident, delighted and tranquil. However, if things do not happen in our way, we become rattled, nervous, irritated and even resentful. Our usual reactions and emotions towards uncertainty and unexpected events reveal that we want to be the master of ourselves and our peace: Security is built on me only and alone - my plan, my understanding, my way of thinking... all about me. Today's gospel shows us the secret to gain constant peace, tranquility and joy even in the most difficult and hard times: surrender ourselves to God the Father, who loves us so much and consistently looks after us. To give oneself to the other is not an event; it is not losing control, but is a life-long act and attitude that symbolizes our utter confidence and total trust in the love of the Other, who is God of heaven and earth.

To you, Lord, the master of life, the source of love, I surrender - the only way to gain eternal peace, joy and happiness.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
