"If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." Like the Samaritan woman, we sometimes fail to recognize the Messiah in our midst. Jesus is always here with us and constantly asking us to open ourselves to Him. Indeed, He is present in our village, in our city or in our office through our brothers and sisters in need of help. As we open our water-jars with generosity and compassion, we become more and more capable of seeing Christ and drinking the water of life that He promises. Today, there are many problems in our society that need the contribution of all Christians to witness to the love that God bears for his people. We need therefore, daringly and wholeheartedly, to get out of our comfort zones and embrace the lame, the ostracized, the widows and orphans. Just like the Samaritan woman, they need us to know that salvation has already come. It is in giving what we have received freely that we truly enjoy God's love, because in giving we open our hearts to the abundant graces of God.

Lord Jesus Christ, grant us, we pray, the grace of generosity and compassion to those in need.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
