Those who are used to fire and wind as images of the Spirit will find "dewfall" an unusual image. In the quiet and still early hours of a summer morning, the hidden moisture in the atmosphere condenses into droplets on surfaces at optimum weather conditions (dew point). The ground is dry in the previous evening and there are no possibilities of rainfall. The mysterious appearance of dewfall in the summer brings surprise, coolness and joy to one's heart. The Holy Spirit works unexpectedly in us, in a quiet and gradual way, like a dewfall, reminding us how subtly and gently God acts.

We need to give God's Spirit freedom to order our lives based on the law of love: love of God and neighbour. These are the preferred conditions that help the Spirit's work to become fruitful in our life. In these quiet moments that are full of potential, let us invite the Holy Spirit to come and gently settle upon us like the dewfall causing us to blossom like the lily.

Heavenly Father, send the Holy Spirit upon me like a dewfall that he might move me inwardly to love you with my whole heart and my whole soul, with all my mind and all strength and that I may love others as Christ loves me.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
