The Risen Lord "had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread."

The experience of the Emmaus disciples is a preview to the Eucharist as we celebrate it today.

Jesus Himself walked with humanity when he became flesh and dwelt amongst us but His own people failed to recognize him just as the Emmaus disciples did.

What Jesus spoke in person is repeated daily in the Liturgy of the Word and even then we fail to hear Jesus just as the disciples did. Finally, when Jesus broke the bread, these two disciples encountered Jesus. Likewise we too are blessed with Holy Communion.

Our Lord is a Lord who walks, speaks and breaks bread with us day after day, not just through the Eucharist but also through our interaction with others.

Lord, let our senses be open to Your loving presence and give us the serenity to encounter You every day of our life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
