Many of us have struggled with weaknesses or addictions. Our fervent prayer may be that the Lord take it away. Paul asked God three times to take away his ‘thorn in the flesh.' God refused - His grace was enough for Paul. When we surrender our weaknesses to God, they become channels through which God can pour his grace. Let us never forget that we can do nothing alone: all is grace.

It is rather difficult for many to believe that God is working through people they know - even friends and family. The folks in the synagogue were offended at the things Jesus was saying and doing. They knew his family and had probably watched him grow up. They closed their minds and hearts to him. Not only that, their unbelief made it impossible for Jesus to work miracles in their presence. After all, miracles and healings require faith. Perhaps we can allow God to surprise us by working through unexpected people. If we keep our minds and hearts open, we will see the presence of God all around us and experience his many blessings.

Lord, may Your grace and power be shown in my weaknesses.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
