We are curious about the future. Many of us may even worry about the future: what will become of this and that; what will become of me when this and that happens…? It will be great if someone can give us an answer, as to the date, place and manner of the inevitable happenings. It will be great if God will give us an answer.

The Pharisees turned to Jesus with the question 'When is the kingdom of God to come?' Jesus talked to his disciples about it too. On both occasions, however, Jesus did not address the 'when', 'where' or 'how' as such. But let us not miss what Jesus wants to share with his disciples. He takes them to a deeper and more intimate level in pondering the question.

Jesus appreciates our longing for his second coming. He promises he will come in person again. He warns us of deceitful signs before that day comes, and cautions us not to be distracted but to be steadfast in our waiting and longing. More importantly, he reveals to us what will happen to him, and therefore to us, his disciples, before that day comes.

Lord Jesus, may my contribution to the kingdom be my sharing in Your suffering, death and victory on the last day.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That we may be open to personal encounter and dialogue with all, even those whose convictions differ from our own.
