"What return can I make to the Lord for all his goodness to me?" These words of today's psalm provide a guideline for a great deal of reflection.

A deep reflection will always look to the truth and the value of what we discover.

The Psalm verse supposes that we already have some experience and awareness of God's goodness as manifested in all the gifts, great and small which we have received from God's hands: life and happiness, faith and hope, grace and joy and peace. We can constantly deepen our awareness of the reality of all these gifts by recalling them in grateful prayer, gratitude leading us to even greater gratitude.

On a certain level, but not yet with the wisdom and faith we attain in Jesus, the Psalmist answers his own question: "I will raise the cup of salvation; I will call on the name of the Lord." The best Christian way to make a return to the Lord is "to raise the cup of salvation", to receive communion more often and more worthily, and then to call upon the name of the Lord in prayer, perhaps more often and more sincerely and fervently.

Father in Heaven, grant us the grace to live the life of faith, hope and love which we received in Baptism.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
