While many Psalms pray for the community ("Teach us, Lord..."), the writer of Psalm 25 asks for a personal grace: "Your ways, O Lord, make known to me; teach me your paths".

Praying for the community is important. The Creed which we recite at Mass affirms that Jesus came "for us and for our salvation" and we must continue to be grateful that Jesus died for all. Another level of the mystery, however, is uncovered for each one of us when we personalize the message, the Good News. In teaching us to contemplate the birth of Jesus in the poverty of the cave at Bethlehem, St Ignatius emphasizes the need to realize that "all this was for me". During the Last Supper, in response to Jesus' affirmation "You know the way to the place where I am going" Thomas spoke for all the disciples: "Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life". Jesus spoke to the community of the disciples, but with the Psalmist each one of us may profitably pray for the enlightenment to accept that Jesus is our own personal way, truth and life.

Lord, enlighten my mind and heart that I may know You as my way, my truth and my life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
