Today the church celebrates the solemn feast of St. Joseph. St. Joseph was the man who lived the life of faith and righteousness.

St. Joseph was called to play an important part in the salvation history of human beings in taking care of Mary and her baby Jesus. He was a God-fearing man. He carried out his responsibility with great dedication and commitment. Therefore he is called the head of the Holy Family. We see that very little is mentioned about St. Joseph in the Bible. St. Joseph was a silent worker. He looked after Mary and her baby Jesus without complaining and grumbling. He followed the instructions of the Holy Spirit without doubting them. Like Mary, he must have kept everything within his heart and pondered over them. Such a major responsibility - to be the foster father of Jesus - he fulfilled without making a show of it. He did not count anything to his own credit, but took joy in fulfilling his duty. He disappears from the Bible without being noticed.

God calls each one of us to carry out different responsibilities in our daily lives.

St. Joseph, intercede for us that we may learn to carry out our duty quietly and humbly.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
