On the road to Emmaus, the two disciples did not rejoice at the good news that Jesus had risen. They looked downcast because they were doubting the news.

Our life is somewhat like the road to Emmaus. Somewhere along it we will encounter the risen Lord. As we walk along it, we are often bothered by so many earthly matters that we overlook the fact that Jesus is waiting for us at the next bend, or standing by the roadside, looking forward to accompanying us on our journey, to share our burden. The question remains whether we are willing and ready, as were the two disciples, to open up ourselves at certain critical moment of our life, and invite Jesus into our heart. Only through this opening up can Jesus respond. Zacchaeus the tax collector took the initiative to seek Jesus: subsequently his entire life was changed (Lk 19:1-10). Similarly, the crippled beggar that Peter healed took the initiative of asking. In the name of Jesus, Peter responded and cured him, enabling him to walk again (Acts 3:1-10).

Let us reinforce our spiritual life in this Easter celebration, and through the Eucharist, so that we can encounter the Risen Lord and experience the joy and peace that He brings us.

"Glory in His holy name, let hearts that seek the Lord rejoice." (Ps 105:3)

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
