In the gospel reading today, Jesus addresses the fear in the hearts of his followers. Jesus knows that, when we are fearful of something, we feel insecure and we hide. Then, before we know it, we tell lies, we say what we do not mean, and we live a life of falsehood and deception. In other words, we live in a dark place where truth is covered up. Somehow our life experiences and human history tell us that all bad thoughts and actions will someday be exposed for the world to see and to judge. But Jesus does not wait for human logic to right the wrong.

Jesus asks us not to be afraid and not to hide the truth which we are living and professing. We must broadcast the good news now. Why? There is nothing to be afraid of because God is with us. God knows our innermost being intimately even as he knows the exact number of hairs on our head. God is with us on our inside and outside. To be with God is to live in love and in light.

Lord, teach us not to be afraid, but to be grateful since You treasure us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
