After Jesus had sent the Twelve on a mission to preach and heal (Lk.9: 1-6), Luke now gave an account of the mission of the 72 other disciples. In Lk.10:2, it talks about the need for more labourers because of the ripe and plentiful 'harvest'. Here 'harvest' denotes the season for the widespread proclamation of the Kingdom of God (Lk.8:16ff) and many who accepted the message of the Kingdom. In the midst of such, there are two important aspects of the mission-instruction. Firstly, it is the urgency and need for single mindedness in carrying out this mission. This is why they should not even get into conversations on the road (Lk. 10:4) and worry about food. The urgency is to proclaim the Good News by healing and sharing of the gift of Peace which refers to God's presence and actions.

Today we are also confronted with the threat of violence inflicted upon Christians in different parts of the world. This certainly calls for the urgency to share the message of 'peace' and 'mercy' that the Church shares concretely in this Jubilee Year of Mercy. God needs every one of us to bring this message to the world as a continuation of the Mission of Jesus. However this is possible only with complete trust, faith and self-surrender on our part.

This is what Paul said in the First reading wherein he said, "The Lord stood by me, gave me power, so that through me the whole message might be proclaimed for all the pagans to hear."

"Lord, grant us the faith and courage like St. Luke to share the Good News especially to the Poor."

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
