The Gospel of John is very dramatic in narrating even the small details of the Passion of Christ. In today's passage the prophecy of the high priest Caiaphas is an eye-opener to us. He suggests that it would be better for them to have Jesus die than to have the whole nation destroyed. Though this was his vicious scheme, he didn't know God was about to bring the salvation of the whole world through this one man, Jesus. God's ways are incomprehensible. He even uses His enemies to have his purpose fulfilled. That is what exactly happened in the life of Jesus.

In our lives day in and day out we are meet so many people who are against us who feel threatened by the way we witness our faith. Then we may be confused as to why is it that we, being so good, are considered as a threat. In such a situation we have to remind ourselves that Jesus has gone through the same experience before us. So let us not lose sight of this fact of our faith, that God will even use our enemies for our good and for his glory.

Lord, grant that, during times of trial and tribulation, we may not lose trust but surrender to you, our God, and ask for the grace of perseverance and fidelity.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
