What is the most valuable thing you own? Today we hear two stories of people finding something of extraordinary value. One person actively searches for a pearl of great price; eventually, he finds it. Another person stumbles upon treasure for which he was not looking.

Jesus invites us to take note of both cases. We are called to actively seek the Lord: to spend time in prayer, to learn about our faith, to read Scripture. Sometimes, however, we enounter God in a totally unexpected way. We suddenly hear God's voice in our heart or suddenly discover that God is powerfully at our side.

Have you ever encountered God in this way?

The first reading tells us that Moses encountered God on Mt. Sinai. It all began long ago, unexpectedly, at the burning bush. Now, after speaking with God, Moses' face shines. His face is a symbol - the encounter with God has changed Moses. Now, when people look at Moses, they ponder God.

Do you want to encounter God? The Lord wants to encounter you. He wants to bless you.

If you choose, you can seek him out...there is nothing of greater value.

Lord, open my eyes to see You; open my ears to hear Your voice. I want to encounter You...and be changed.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
