Today, both readings speak about faith. In the first reading, Yahweh rebukes Aaron and Miriam for not trusting Moses and doubting the Lord's communication through him. He even punishes Miriam for disrespecting Moses and being doubtful.

In the Gospel, we have a dramatic scene of how Peter walks on the water with the help of the Lord. Overcome by fear of the water Peter loses his faith in the Lord and starts sinking in the water. Jesus rebukes Peter for his lack of faith.

Like Moses the Lord continues to speak to us through various people and the mundane incidents of our daily life. We need to be in tune with the Lord's voice so that we do not disrespect his people and turn deaf ears to his voice. In the Gospel, Peter is able to walk on the water as long as he is focused on the Lord. The moment he loses that focus, the fear of the water grips him and he sinks into the water. Sometimes, caught up in the worries of our world, we also lose our focus on the Lord and as a result start sinking in our faith. Let not the worries of the world take away our focus from the Lord.

Lord, grant us the grace to be focused on You always as we put our trust in You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
