A friend once gave me this riddle to solve: When we get to heaven, there is one thing in us that remains unchanged. What is it? ... The answer is that we are still creatures. We are creatures forever, as God is our creator forever.

As creatures we know that there are things that are beyond our understanding: forces greater than us, limits and limitations, etc. As Christians we believe that God is the creator of all things, visible and invisible.

In today's gospel, we read that Jesus cast out devils from two demoniacs. Jesus allowed the devils to go into pigs after they were cast out and allowed the pigs to die. We may have seen but do not understand things like 'the devil', 'demoniacs', 'the possessed'. Let us not be overwhelmed by the drama, but call upon our faith to remind ourselves that God is the creator; we and all other things are creatures. God the creator has power over all that he creates.

Lord, strengthen our faith as we pray 'deliver us from all evil'. May we always give praise to our creator and saviour God.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith, through our prayer and witness to the Gospel, may rediscover the merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life.
