One of the several meanings in Jesus' parable of the talents is the importance and hence the spiritual greatness of fidelity in small things. We all have talents of some kind. We must first learn to recognize them and this recognition will help to deepen our spiritual lives and to give us the wisdom, courage and strength to put these talents to good use. Different saints in different ways have followed Jesus' encouraging words and taught us the importance of fidelity in small things, generally with the clarification that the ordinary small things of life become truly great apostolic actions when done with love, for the sake of the Kingdom and for the greater glory of God.

Not many of us are called to do things for God which others would recognize as "great things". Most of us are probably given one or two talents rather than five or ten, but all of us are given the ability to love, even to reach, at least on occasions, the heights of loving unconditionally.

Teach me, Lord, to recognize in humility and gratitude the talents which You have given me and the courage to develop and use them lovingly for Your greater glory.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christians in Asia, bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed, may promote dialogue, peace, and mutual understanding, especially with those of other religions.
