At the Last Supper Jesus offered his disciples the gift of his peace, a peace that the world could not give (Jn 14:27). When he appears to his apostles on the morning of the resurrection, he greets them in the normal Jewish way, with a greeting of "peace" (Shalom). However, given all they have been through during the arrest, trials and death of Jesus, followed by the dismal gloom of the Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath, when they could not work nor make the long journey back to Galilee, but only wait for whatever the outcome would be, we can be sure that Jesus' greeting no longer sounded like the normal courteous Jewish greeting. They would have experienced at least in an initial way, that Jesus was truly bringing them that peace which the world could not give them. Their faith was, of course, still fragile and weak, for they still had to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit, even if they did not understand all that Jesus had told them during the Last Supper.

Father in Heaven, let each day of our lives be like Easter Sunday: grant us in all aspects of our lives that peace which the world cannot give.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That economists may have the courage to reject any economy of exclusion and know how to open new paths.
