None of us is ever likely to have a vision of "the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne." Nevertheless, there are elements in Isaiah's experience that can apply to us in some measure. God prepared Isaiah for his mission by purifying him. Then he gave Isaiah the opportunity to make a free offering of himself: "Here I am, Lord".

For us God's "high and lofty throne" may serve as a symbol of the whole mystery of Jesus incarnate for our salvation, crucified on a cross and raised from the dead. That is truly a high and lofty mystery at which we should in prayer and praise proclaim "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord."

We are purified in Baptism and enabled to proclaim the "high and lofty" doctrine of the gospel in the freedom and glory of the children of God, as St Paul says (cf. Rom 8:21). As disciples of Jesus we have received the mission of being his presence and the channel of his Gospel in our own life situations.

Father in Heaven, purify us each day with the fire of Your love through the eternal grace of our baptism so that we may courageously bear witness to the mystery of Jesus and his Gospel.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That priests, who experience fatigue and loneliness in their pastoral work, may find help and comfort in their intimacy with the Lord and in their friendship with their brother priests.
