The Ten Commandments are the essential foundation of all just and humane communities. Reverence for God, respect for the rights and property of others, and the protection of life are the core principles of these commandments. When we violate them repeatedly, we suffer grievously as individuals, societies, and communities. What can we do each day to nurture and apply these gifts from God?

The teachings of Jesus have never appealed to the clever, the powerful, and even at times religious folks. It is easy to call oneself a Christian and to give the Lord lip service, but to be a real disciple requires commitment and sacrifice. Let us not try to test the Lord or figure him out, but follow him humbly in love and service.

People often misuse holy and sacred things for selfish ends. Jesus protested that the temple had become a source of wealth and power rather than worship and praise. This happens in all religions at times, even our own. By pointing to his own body as the new temple, Jesus gives us a place to worship that can never be corrupted or violated. Our worship is interior - we commune with our Lord in ways that no one can touch or control. Our inner temple will never be shaken.

Lord, may my worship always be pure and sincere.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the Church may appreciate the urgency of formation in spiritual discernment, both on the personal and communitarian levels.
