The scribes and Pharisees want to see how Jesus will handle a tricky situation. If Jesus cures the man with the withered hand, they can accuse Jesus of profaning the sabbath. If Jesus does not cure him, he may appear cold-hearted or incapable.

Jesus chooses to cure and restore the man. Why? Jesus knows that providing someone with new life does not go against God's sabbath law. On the contrary, the Lord genuinely desires people receive his deep healing and freedom.

In today's letter to the Corinthians, Paul courageously challenges the early Christians on a difficult issue, sexual immorality. Some in the Corinthian community have allowed sensual desires to influence their behaviour in an unhealthy way.

In our times, we too face temptations of various sorts. The internet and social media can bring many good things to our lives. The internet can also make it easier to fall into sin, including sexual sin.

Jesus wants us to avoid the harm that comes from sin. Like the man in the Gospel, Jesus desires us to healed and be truly free.

If we have sinned or are in need of healing, we can turn to Jesus for forgiveness, for healing and for strength.

Lord, bless any wounds in my life with Your deep healing. Keep me faithful to You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
