We become not only what we eat and drink, but what we think and say. Paul warned his community to keep their worship - mostly the Eucharist - pure and uncontaminated. They were not to mix it with other forms of worship, especially when it weakened their commitment to Christ. It is important for us to have the highest spiritual ideals and to remain focused on them. Our world brings us many distractions, and sometimes they are hidden or difficult to recognize.

As Jesus hung on the cross and prepared to depart from this world, he was still compassionate and concerned for others. He wanted to care for his mother, so he gave her into the hands of the Beloved Disciple, who stood at the foot of the cross with her. He was also concerned for this disciple, so he blessed the disciple's community with the presence of his mother. Last of all, he was concerned for believers in all ages, even today. He left us his own mother as our mother too, someone to whom we can pray for blessing, comfort, and guidance. The Church is expected to be a family, but often we do not show this. We should show the same love, compassion, and care for one another that Jesus showed for Mary and that she shows for us.

Lord, may my worship and intentions always be pure.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
