We learn through the many different experiences of life. Sometimes these experiences are very formal, as in classroom settings. However, our whole life is not spent in the classroom. We learn informally from the many other experiences in life. Whether we learn formally or informally, one thing is common to both learning experiences: the more we understand, the more we are capable of understanding. So, too, the more we love, the more we become capable of loving. Expressed in this way, this notion may sound very theoretical. Let us listen to Jesus: "To the man who has, more will be given." Though Jesus was speaking in a different context with a different purpose, his words enlighten us here also. The person who possesses understanding will continually grow in understanding. The person who loves will be more capable of both enjoying the love of God and of growing in love of God and neighbour. The person who prays will progress in prayer.

God has given us various talents, especially the talent to understand the truth and so to possess the truth through believing. The truth sets us free: living according to the truth, we grow in freedom.

Holy Spirit, remind us of the truth which Jesus taught us and so guide us in freedom towards a greater love of God and of each other.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
