"Happy are they who have kept the word with a generous heart and yield a harvest through perseverance". These words of the Alleluia verse before the Gospel, are of course from Jesus' explanation of his parable of the sower, and as such have nothing to do directly with the story of the three young men in the furnace. Yet in a profound way, all Scripture is related and so the story of the three young men is a profound reflection on fidelity to God, even at the cost of great suffering. In different ways the seed of the word of God has been sown in our hearts and it should be our earnest desire that our hearts be the good soil of the parable.

Lord Jesus, grant that our hearts may be the good soil of Your parable and that we may hear Your word at each celebration of the Eucharist with great joy and enlightenment and so be fruitful, for our own sanctification and the spread of Your kingdom of truth and peace and justice.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
