Today's Gospel reading has two sections, namely the Mission of the 72 disciples (Lk.10:1-12) & their return from Mission (Lk.10: 17-20). The first talks about the urgency of the message of the Kingdom which is of utmost importance in today's challenging world realities where there is so much of violence, destruction of places of worship and the death of so many innocent victims.

Jesus continues to say that the mission of preaching the Kingdom requires haste and single-mindedness like the labourers at harvest time. The success of this mission depends solely on our reliance on God. This includes trust and surrender which make up the essential aspects of Christian vocation.

The second section focuses on true discipleship in the genuine relationship with God which brings forth 'success' and real joy that calls for rejoicing. For God's purpose for the world is to lead all people to fullness of life. We are called to be 'evangelizers' in and through our own lives in terms of our values we hold that bring about a change in us.

The joy that the disciples of Jesus experience is peace like a gentle flow of a river and stream. This peace and mercy are the hallmarks of true discipleship of those who follow and do the will of God.

"Lord, may the joy we receive be a source of strength and courage to share and spread the Good News of your Kingdom."

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That those who administer justice may work with integrity, and that the injustice which prevails in the world may not have the last word.
