The Israelites were fleeing from the Egyptian army when they came to the Red Sea. They were caught between the sea and the army and were afraid that they would drown or be killed by the Egyptians. Moses had faith that God would save them. God told Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea and when Moses obeyed, God sent a wind to separate the waters. The Israelites walked across the dry sea bed. When the Egyptians followed, Moses again obeyed God. He stretched out his hand over the sea and the waters returned, drowning the army. The Israelites turned from fear to faith as they realized that God had not abandoned them. Do we trust God to look after us?

Jesus had been speaking to the crowds and healing those who had come to him. He was also being challenged by the scribes and Pharisees once again. In the midst of all this, Jesus' mother and brothers came looking for him, wanting to speak to him. Here Jesus answered with a revolutionary statement! He introduced a new definition of family - for Jesus, family would consist of anyone who did the will of God. Obedience to God the Father would be the basis of kinship. Are we able to count ourselves as members of Jesus' family?

Lord, help me to trust You and do Your will.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That those who administer justice may work with integrity, and that the injustice which prevails in the world may not have the last word.
