Hosea was filled with God's longing for the people of Israel. They strayed far from the path of righteousness, and God wanted them back. It proclaims repentance on the part of Israel and assurance of forgiveness from God.

The Lord promises to cleanse and renew Israel and to grant her new life and happiness. It does not matter how far we have wandered from the flock - God wants us back. God's welcome will be far gentler and loving than our fear and dread.

Making our way in the world today can seem like being amid wolves. God wants us to be as wise as serpents - discerning, prudent, and aware. At the same time, we need to be as innocent as doves - in other words, do not allow ourselves to be corrupted and take on the ways of the world.

God always surrounds us with light and love. Even if we face difficulty and persecution, we have higher power with us: The Spirit of God. We need not be afraid.

Lord, may my words and deeds be wise and just.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
