Today's two readings remind us of the disposition a disciple of Jesus should have - one of total obedience and surrender to God's will.

This presupposes one has the faith that culminates in action like Mary. This is reflected in her immediate response to visit Elizabeth and offer services to her. She became a servant of the Lord by becoming a servant of those in need (Pope John Paul II, Redemptoris Mater No: 37). Mary is a true and model disciple for us to imitate.

The journey of Mary's 'Yes' helps us know and perhaps to practice the process of 'discernment' keenly- to listen attentively to the Word of God, and in contemplation moves us to respond in action. This depends on our relationship with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, particularly in the context of Prayer.

This is seen in the first reading. The apostles gathered together to pray in the company of Mother Mary. There is communion. Thus, the Annunciation account reflects Mary as the symbol of humanity, welcoming God's Word.

Let us imitate Mary's example of faithful discipleship in word and action.

Mother Mary, thank you for your YES. Help us to see how your total self-surrender to God's will is the quality of a true disciple. Lord, grant us the grace to imitate Mary in her spirit of total abandonment to God's will in prayer and action.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That by virtue of baptism, the laity, especially women, may participate more in areas of responsibility in the Church.
