Paul loved the Church at Philippi and was grateful for their love towards him. They were generous in their love and their deeds. They had even sent gifts to Paul to make his imprisonment more comfortable. Furthermore, their love was evidenced in the way they had all shared in the Gospel from the beginning and the way they lived the gospel message of love. Are we generous in love and deeds? Do we live the gospel message?

The authorities were looking for an excuse to get rid of Jesus, so they were watching him in an attempt to catch him doing something wrong. It was the sabbath, and there were strict laws about what was permitted. Jesus healed a man and then used the example of the animal falling in the well to challenge the lawyers and Pharisees. They needed to realize that healing is important enough to be allowed on the sabbath. The wellbeing of people is first. Do we love as Jesus loves or do we exclude others in our attempt to follow the rules?

Lord, help me to be as present to the needs of others as Jesus.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That by virtue of baptism, the laity, especially women, may participate more in areas of responsibility in the Church.
