Contemplating the Gospel scene shows the actions and the immediate response of the Apostles. Mary Magdalene's prompt action on seeing the empty tomb was to seek out Peter and John. Together they ran towards the empty tomb.

When John saw the clothes lying in the tomb in their regular fold, he knew that Christ had indeed risen - that was the moment of grace and enlightenment when he saw the reality and the truth with his own eyes.

The loving relationship that Mary and John had with the Lord allowed them to see beyond the physical state of the empty tomb and remained deeply in their hearts the revelation of Jesus' resurrection. That was truly an awesome experience!

This revelation is reflected in what John wrote in the first reading. His message was borne out of the revelation of the Word - that John has heard, seen, watched and touched - such tangible experiences that brought joy and happiness in John's life after Jesus' Resurrection.

Today's readings bring us to a deeper level of the experience of God's love in our lives. We are privileged if we experience such a degree of consolation and love, not only in prayer but in our daily encounters with others, even during this trying time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

May the Christmas Joy, Peace and Hope bring us closer to the Christ who came to save us from our sins.

Lord, liberate us from the slavery, of materialism, consumerism and self-centredness. Fill us with the compassion and love You brought into our lives with the birth of Christ."

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
