The medium transmits the message from the sender to the receiver. Moses is asked by the Israelites to intercede for them with God - Moses is the medium, and the message is the cry for help. The Israelites do so after realising that they have sinned against God only when fiery serpents come and bite them to death. The serpents, too, are a medium of realising sin against God. The message is the people's sin.

God provides the cure by asking Moses to make a bronze serpent, and anyone who looks upon this image would be healed. The figure of the serpent becomes the medium of healing. The message is the healing itself. Ironically, the serpent becomes the medium of death and healing in this case. The message is death via live serpents and life via a bronze serpent.

The Son of Man is the bridge between heaven and earth, and in that way, He came down from above to lift people upwards to heaven.

In other words, Jesus is the mediator between God and the people. But not only that, according to Marshall McLuhan, Jesus exemplifies the notion that the medium is the message. Jesus does not just convey the message of God; He is also the message itself. In the person of Jesus Christ, there is no distinction between medium and message. Both are present in Him. Therefore, we look to Jesus, the one mediator, for the message of God and God Himself.

Lord, I look to You for Your very own self.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
