All wisdom is from God. Wisdom is very different from knowledge. Knowledge is the accumulation of facts, but wisdom is the ability to discern or judge what is true or righteous.

Wisdom was created by God and given to humans as a gift. But to whom does God give that gift? To those who love Him. For wisdom resides with God, and only those who truly love God are given the means of discerning what is true and righteous.

The account of the healing of the boy with a spirit contains many truths. A major theme of the story is faith. Jesus was faced with a “faithless generation” - we are as well. The father wanted his son to be healed but questioned Jesus’ ability.

Jesus’ response applies to us today - belief is the key ingredient. The father affirmed his belief and his son was healed. Not only did Jesus command the evil spirit to leave the boy, but He also commanded the spirit not to enter again. As we move forward in our faith journey and leave behind old habits, we need to pray that we fill the void with the Lord and the Lord's work. As Jesus said, prayer is the key.

Lord, help me to be wise and faithful.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
We pray that parishes, placing Communion at the centre, may increasingly become communities of faith and fraternity and welcoming those most in need.
