In the passage from Wisdom, the unrighteous argued that the righteous were inconvenient to them because they opposed their wicked deeds. The righteous man's ways differed from those of others, so the unrighteous decided to test him. The unrighteous did not understand the mysteries of God. Things have not changed in the thousands of years since this was written; the righteous are still being challenged by those who do not understand. We are called to remain faithful to God in everything we do and say.

Jesus went alone to the Feast of the Tabernacles, an annual harvest festival, because He knew that some were trying to kill Him. As He was teaching in the temple, people seemed confused about where Jesus was from. Some thought He was the Messiah, but others assumed they knew where He was from, so He couldn't be the Messiah. Jesus affirmed that He was sent by the one whom "they do not know." In other words, Jesus was claiming to be sent by God. Again, there was an attempt to arrest him, but it was not at the appointed time.

Lord, help me to be faithful to You always.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
We pray for those who have suffered harm from members of the Church; may they find within the Church herself a concrete response to their pain and suffering.
