The Israelites were suffering under the rule of the Assyrians, and they had turned to worshipping the idols of their captors. Here Isaiah was telling the people what they could expect once they turned back to the Lord. The Lord would see to all their needs as long as they walked in the way the Lord laid out for them. They would not need to be afraid. All would be well. The Lord would be gracious to them once again.

Jesus had been teaching in the synagogues and healing people of all diseases, but He realised that the need was very great and there were few responding to that need. He prepared the disciples to teach and heal and sent them to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. They were told to share the Good News and to heal the sick and even raise the dead. Jesus trusted the disciples to use the power that He had given them.

We are also given gifts to share with others - we can all share the Good News. This is the greatest gift that we can give. One familiar saying tells us, "You may be the only Gospel another person reads or hears." Are you willing to share the Good News of the love of Jesus with others?

Lord, help me to share your love with others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
