As 2025 draws to a close, the Word of God invites us to contemplate its place and centrality in our human reality. The Word is Jesus Christ, Son of God. The Word is God, the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end of all realities. But the Word that gives Light and Life is also the Word that was not known or accepted by many of God's own people when He came into the world. Indeed, there was no room at the inn for the child when He was born one silent and holy night.

The Word that became flesh and lived among humanity found itself a stranger, a refugee and a migrant in the very world that He created. But to those who believe and choose to heed the words of John, the humble herald and witness for the Light, God gives the reward of becoming daughters and sons of God. They become companions of the Word, receiving from His fullness, an abundance of "grace upon grace" to live the Christian life worthy of each calling. And life is an ongoing experience of the Son revealing the Father.

Therefore, let us look back on the year in gratitude for what the Word has revealed to us, and look forward in hope for what is yet to be revealed; the promise of ultimately seeing God face to face when our earthly journey ends.

Word of God, I hope in You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH

For Christians in areas of conflict.
