How serious are we taking Jesus' words? Today's Gospel is a moment of profound significance where the words of Jesus challenge and test the faith of His disciples. Jesus minced no words when He spoke of 'eating His flesh and drinking His blood', a concept that many find difficult to grasp and accept. Many of the disciples were perplexed and troubled, they quit because they were unable to reconcile the words with their understanding of their Master's intention.

However, amidst the murmurings and the departure of many, we see the unwavering faith of Simon Peter who, despite the challenges, declared, "Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that You are the Holy One of God". Peter's words are a powerful reminder of the importance of faith, the very reason why they come to the Lord. This is even crucial when faced with difficulties and challenges. Just as Peter chose to remain with Jesus, we too must choose to trust in Jesus' words, even when they seem hard to understand or accept at that moment in time. To follow Jesus is an eternity of learning.

In all humility, like Peter, we seek to deepen our faith and be open to understand the mysteries of God's love and grace, and to remain steadfast in our commitment to Jesus, the Holy One of God.

Jesus our Lord and Master, to whom shall we go?

You have the words of eternal life.
