Human life is fragile and short. It's prone to sickness and pain. Yet, there's something imperishable about us, that is, our eternal souls. For the author of Wisdom says, "The souls of the virtuous are in the hands of God." In the eyes of the world, it appears as if human lives are cut off and disintegrate when they die. But no, there's immortality in us as well.
We take human fragility as a test, like gold tested in a furnace. When we go through this test, we grow and shine out of the challenges of those tests of life. So let us persevere and not lose hope in spite of the tribulations we encounter each time.
The shortness of human life and its accompanying limitations make us aware of our place in the world. As Jesus specifies, we are merely servants; we have our part to do in this world. We accept we are constrained in many ways, but we are also called to be missionaries of Christ, to bring God's Word to others, and to witness to Christ.
Lord, we are merely Your servants, who are willing to carry out Your word. Help us in our fragility.
