Despite his senior status among the hated tax collectors and his great wealth, Zacchaeus is spiritually restless and eager to see Jesus. Being too short, he climbs a sycamore tree to do so. What makes this story powerful is not just his desire, but Jesus' response. Jesus sees him, calls him by name, and chooses to stay at his house. This encounter transforms Zacchaeus. He joyfully welcomes Jesus into his home. He repents, and offers to give half of his possessions to the poor, and promises to repay those he has cheated four times over. This special encounter reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace. Zacchaeus was despised by society, yet Jesus saw his potential and valued his desire for change. True transformation begins when we are willing to humble ourselves, like Zacchaeus climbing that tree, to seek Jesus with a sincere heart.

Every day, we have the opportunity to seek Jesus - in our thoughts, choices, and interactions. No matter our past, God meets us where we are and invites us into an intimate relationship with Him. Like Zacchaeus, we are called not just to receive grace but to let it change how we live - showing kindness, making amends, and living with integrity. Genuine desire leads to openness to receive God's grace. Real faith leads to real change.

Lord, I desire You with all my heart. Transform me according to Your word.
