Advent is upon us again. Time flies quickly. Let us not be like the people in Noah's day, where they were eating, drinking, taking wives, taking husbands, and they suspected nothing till the Flood came and swept all away. The Son of Man will come on a day and at an hour we least expect it. Are we ready for the last days, or our own personal death, which can come at any time?
St Paul reminds us, "The time has come: you must wake up now: our salvation is even nearer than it was when we were converted." If we prefer to do things under the cover of the dark, let us move towards the light, and live decently as people do in the daytime. We are called to be vigilant as we live out our daily lives - "no wrangling or jealousy."
Advent is a good time for us to remember to walk in God's paths and in God's light, as Isaiah says. Be at peace with each other, throwing off our offensive arms into peaceful means of reconciliation and love. Maybe each one of us, during this Advent, is called to reach out to someone whom we have not connected with for some time.
God of light, help me to walk in Your paths, and be Your instrument of peace to other people.
