Most of us hope to find in our living of a Christian life a lot of meaning and support and we are right. But we also have to be aware that there can be a lot of challenges. The Gospel today gives the impression that large numbers of people were following Jesus just to see what sensational miracles He was going to perform. But that is not what following Jesus is about. To follow Jesus is to identify actively with all that He stands for. It is to put His values of truth and love and the service of others before everything - and everyone, even those close to us. So, let us follow His advice today and reflect on just how ready we are to follow Him unconditionally all the way. This is what Paul in today's First Reading tells he is ready to do.

Teach me, Lord, to be generous and not to count the cost.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christian men and women, aware of the vocation which is theirs in the Church, may answer generously to God's call to seek holiness in the midst of their lives.
