This reading gives an account of the last judgement. All people are judged according to their "conduct as recorded on the scrolls." Everything of the old order is swept away and a new heaven and new earth descend from above. Again the readings ask us to consider what would be written in the scroll or memory of our lives. It is not yet too late to make new entries. To begin life anew.

Jesus tells His disciples a story to help them recognize the dawning of the reign of God. The message for them and for us might read: learn to recognize God's reign, God's presence - it may be here and we may not even recognize it for what it is.

The problem with these readings is that we can be so future-oriented that we miss out on the present. At the same time don't worry about the past. Don't fret as much about what has been written in the "scroll of your life" as about what your actions and words are writing in it now! Similary, don't strain so hard to see the kingdom coming that you miss its presence and beauty in your world and in our midst.

Lord, help me make my present moment rewarding in mutual love and friendship and let the 'scroll' of my life be written with my actions and words. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christ, meek and humble of heart, may inspire those responsible for nations to use power wisely and responsibly.
