Part of today's Gospel we read on the feast of Saints Philip and James at the beginning of the month, where Philip is told that anyone who really sees Jesus also sees God. And Jesus goes on to emphasise the depth of faith and trust we need to have in order to recognise God in the words and works of Jesus.

But then Jesus goes on to say that those who really believe in Him will do the same works that He does and even greater ones. Does that take us by surprise? Yet, if we reflect a little we can see its truth. Jesus shared our human nature in every way and that means He shared many of our limitations. He spent His life in only one relatively small place, met a number of people - some face to face but most as part of a large crowd. He would not have been able to read this text because He did not know English! Today, the Pope in a single broadcast over radio and television can reach out literally to billions of people. Each one of us is called to bring Christ to people He never saw or knew. That is what it means to be the Body of the Resurrected Christ - we are called to be His voice, His hands and legs to carry His Spirit to all those corners of the world He never reached, whose existence He knew nothing about and whose existence, in His time, was not yet even a reality.

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
