A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, they say. The danger is that because we know or understand a little, we can begin to think we know everything. And perhaps one place where this is often clearly shown is in questions of religion. Who can really know God? Yet see how people argue, disagree, even fight among each other because their understanding of God is different from other peoples. The wisest and most saintly of theologians have said that all their knowledge of God adds up to less than what a devout, illiterate, hardworking peasant woman knows of God. And they've pointed out that whatever we learn about God, we must then also say that it's not the whole truth. God is so much greater and beyond the scope of our human minds, even a little knowledge has sides to it that we haven't begun to imagine or understand.

What we do know of God our Father has been revealed to us by Jesus, and we accept this in faith. We still have very much to learn. But Jesus' own relatives and townspeople thought they really knew Jesus: he was the carpenter's son, child of Mary etc. So they could not accept or believe Him, because they thought they knew who He was. And our attitudes? God is in our world, and Jesus is among us: but are we listening to His angels and prophets, the people that He speaks through? Or perhaps we think we already know ¡K.

Lord, let Your wisdom be with me to help me and to work with me.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all those who are going through moments of inner difficulty and trial may find in Christ the light and support which leads them to discover authentic happiness.
