Today Jesus begins His long-awaited mission. He begins to reveal Himself and to proclaim the purpose of His coming. It begins at Nazareth, His home town, and will finish with great events in Jerusalem. He comes as God's anointed, our King and Lord. The message is a manifesto not of power or domination but of healing and liberation. Jesus comes to put right our disabilities and to open up the path of true freedom for all. We are all in some ways poor, imprisoned, blind, and under pressure. Only when we realize this are we ready to have our eyes opened, our chains removed, and to walk tall in the way of the Lord. Today, not tomorrow, is the day of our salvation, of our healing.

Dear Jesus, I thank You for bringing to me through the gentle compassion of Your humanity, the message of our merciful and liberating God. Fill me with that same compassion that others, too, may come to know Him through me. Let them look and see not only me but Jesus also.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That in our time, unfortunately marked by many episodes of violence, the pastors of the Church may continue to indicate the way of peace and understanding among peoples.
