The time until the return of the Lord is our time. We the Church need to be vigilant and wait expectantly. The Lord will certainly come back. Even though He may be delayed, we, disciples, cannot sleep. We have to be always alert, vigilant, in tension. Only in this manner will we be able to welcome the Lord when He comes to us. Only in this way will we be sure of the eternal joy and love with Him. A vigilant disciple will serve the Lord.

The first reading of today is from Paul's Letter to the Ephesians. It is a very consoling letter. Israel had the promise of salvation. We, Gentiles, had nothing. But behold, because of the mercy of the Lord, we, Gentiles were also elected as was Israel. "We were without Christ, alienated ... strangers to the Covenant, without hope, without God" (Eph. 2:12). But, we are now not strangers, neither without rights, nor without country. We belong also to the community of the Saints, with the same freedom, the same rights, and the same inheritance. We belong to the great family of God. What a great consolation, a great joy, a great responsibility.

How happy are we, O Lord, if our hearts are set in walking Your roads. Be with us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the Synod of Bishops may help the Pastors and theologians, the Catechists and promoters who are engaged in the service of the Word of God to courageously transmit the truth of faith in communion with the entire Church.
